Summer Reading Activities
- Sidewalk Chalk World - Make a sidewalk chalk world on your driveway or sidewalk. Give your chalk world a name and make characters for your world. When you have finished creating your sidewalk chalk world write a story describing your world and characters.
- Readers Theatre - Grab some of your friends from the neighborhood and act out one of your favorite books. Use props, costumes, and even use old sheets to make a curtain.
- Summer Journal - Keep a journal of what you did this summer. Take a few minutes at the end of each day to write down your days activities and thoughts about the day.
- Create a "Family Fun Night!" Pick a theme such as " fairy tales" or "superheroes." Plan your dinner based on your theme and read books and create activities with your family that go along with your theme.
- Make summer reading goals as a family. Parents are the best reading role models, so making goals for the whole family makes it more likely that your child will reach their goal.
- Start your day with your "daily page." Write down your thoughts and hopes for the day or write about what you hope to accomplish for the day.
